Child identifies the beginning sound of animal names and matches sounds to letters through play.

¡Vamos a jugar a ser detectives de sonidos! Piensa en un animal y dime el primer sonido de su nombre. Yo digo 'g-g-gato', ¿y tú? ¡Ahora dibuja esa letra en el aire con tu dedo mágico!

How it works

  1. Ask your child to name any animal they can think of (say it in Spanish together).
  2. Have them stretch out the very first sound of the animal's name, like 'g-g-gato'.
  3. Ask what letter makes that first sound, then trace the letter in the air with a finger 'paintbrush'.
  4. Take turns: you say an animal, they catch the first sound, then they say one for you.
  5. For a bonus, have them draw the letter in the air big and small, fast and slow.
