Objective: Child explores color mixing by combining primary colors to discover new colors, naming each color in Spanish.

🧺 Materials

  • washable paint in red, yellow, and blue
  • a paper plate or palette
  • paper
  • a paintbrush or cotton swab
  • an old shirt or smock

📋 Instructions (parent)

  1. Cover the table and put dots of red, yellow, and blue paint on a plate.
  2. Name the three starting colors in Spanish before mixing anything.
  3. Mix yellow and blue together and watch green appear like magic.
  4. Try red and yellow to make orange, then red and blue to make purple.
  5. Let your child paint freely with the new colors they invented.
  6. Talk about which mix was their favorite surprise.

➕ Extension ideas

  • Add a little white paint to a color to make a 'baby' pastel version and name it in Spanish.
  • Mix colors in a clear cup of water with food coloring to watch the colors blend.
