El Eco de las Palmas
🎵 Music
MU.K.1PE.K.1
Objective: Child keeps a steady beat and echoes increasingly complex clapping and tapping rhythm patterns.
🧺 Materials
- your hands
- optional: knees and the floor for tapping
- optional: two wooden spoons
📋 Instructions (parent)
- Sit facing each other and say 'Yo toco, tú repites' (I play, you repeat) to explain the echo game.
- Clap a simple two-clap pattern and have your child clap it right back to you.
- Build up: try three claps, then clap-clap-pause-clap, then clap-tap-knees patterns.
- Chant a steady beat with the rhyme 'uno, dos, tres, palmas otra vez' while clapping each number.
- Let your child be the leader and create a pattern for YOU to echo back.
- Finish with a 'rhythm hug' clap pattern you make up together and name it.
➕ Extension ideas
- Clap out the syllables of family members' names: Ma-má (2 claps), a-bue-li-ta (4 claps).
- Add foot stomps and knee pats to make a three-sound body-percussion pattern.
