Detective de Libros
📖 Literacy & Language
RF.K.1SL.K.1
Objective: Child demonstrates print concepts by showing the cover, where to start reading, and which way the words go.
🧺 Materials
- a favorite picture book
- a small flashlight or toy magnifying glass
📋 Instructions (parent)
- Hand your child the flashlight and tell them they are a book detective looking for clues.
- Ask them to find the front cover and the title, then open the book to the very first page.
- Have them point to where you start reading and slide their finger left to right under the words as you read a line.
- At the end of a line, exaggerate the 'return sweep' down to the next line and let them guide your finger.
- Cheer each clue they find: the title, the first word, the last word on the page.
➕ Extension ideas
- Hide a sticky note 'clue' on a random page and have the child turn pages one at a time to find it.
- Let the child be the reader and you the detective who points to the words.
